On October 1st, when the regular season had officially ended, eight teams were headed to the postseason-

Yankees
Twins
Athletics
Tigers
Cardinals
Mets
Padres
Dodgers

I thought to myself: "No Red Sox! Yes!!! No Angels! Yes!!! What a great postseason this should be. There's only 2 teams in that list, I don't want to see in the World Series. The Tigers. And the Cardinals."

( I'm not a huge fan of Detroit. All ESPN talked about this year was Detroit. Detroit. Detroit. Detroit. Detroit. Detroit. Detroit. Detroit. Detroit. Enough already. Plus, I can't stand Rogers or Rodriguez. And the Cardinals never really get excited. I don't think I saw Edmonds, Rolens, Encarnacion, La Russa, or Spiezio even attempt to look happy this year. If not for Eckstein and Pujols, this team would be too boring to watch. )

And so, what happens? The Tigers win the AL pennant and Cardinals win the NL pennant.

Am I the only one who is incredibly disappointed by what has happened here in the '06 postseason?

You're not the only one. I hear FOX is not too happy with the two teams in the World Series because neither one brings that national cache which will lead to big ratings.

The Cardinals are just...eh. And everyone already expects the Tigers to walk right through them.

The ratings will likely be low.

Fans complain all the time that other teams besides the Yankees should be in the Series, then cry when they get a matchup like this. The teams that deserve to be there are, and I will watch. I needed to find a reason to root for one over the other, and decided to pull for the Cardinals, because La Russa runs an animal shelter in California. I know that's a stretch but it's the best I can do.

Those that complain about the Yankee payroll have to understand by now that it does not guarantee them anything. The only guarantee in baseball is that if you don't spend some money, you will NOT win a title.

Exactly! That's why anti-Yankee fans should stop using the lame "but they have more money then us!" complaint everytime the Yanks win again.

I would've really like A's versus Mets World Series... two fun teams. The Mets, who dominated the National League, and A's who are the most underrated team in the majors.
