Exclamation New York Baseball Fans Are Miserable Creeps!

Why isn't everyone talking about the Mets in the NLCS? I mean they're the clear favorite to win it all and the fans are more interested in the Yankee's mess of an organization! Why must New York fans wallow in negativity? I mean I was listening to WFAN (not mike and the mad dog however) and all the callers were doing were bashing Torre and the Yankees that suck, which is a lot of players! So yes they have a lot to discuss on that subject but very few including the sportscasters themselves are discussing the NLCS bound New York Mets. See why I say NYC is horrible? Oh it's not just cab drivers and bouncers who are rude, it's the whole city and this proves it! They'd rather spew out the hatred from their miserable married before 30 with 4 kids to please their dumb a** parents on the Yankee debacle than talk about the World Series!!! I know if your a Yankee fan you want to know what is happening but thats just it...nothing is happening yet so why not talk about the American and National League Championships? Sickening how misanthropic these people are. Suddenly John Rocker is becoming my hero! By the way can anyone rent me a room in Pennslyvania or somewhere where there is no mafia, english is the number 1 language spoken and you have room to breathe?

It's only Monday, the Yankees have been dethroned and the manager may or may not be fired.

Don't worry Trashed, today and ESPECIALLY tomorrow, the attention will turn to the Mets.

That's the way it should be. If you're Yankee fan that's fine, you have my sympathy but your allegiance should be to major league baseball and you should watch to see who is the champion of the season you watched all year. I remember everyone saying that they watch those ESPN games of the week no matter who plays and indeed they should but if you are like the fans I know around where I live you only care about the Yankees and you think they are an island in all sports and only watch when they are on. Kinda like a baby cries when his mommy stepped out for a moment and they don't get what they want. There are other teams in baseball besides the Yankees and if you dont care unless they are in it next time I put up a post why football, hockey, basketball or kangaroo boxing for that matter is better than baseball you must be silent because you dont like baseball, you're merely a Bronx Yankee cult member and you're sad existence proves my point.

Re: New York Baseball Fans Are Miserable Creeps!

I am both surprised and pleased to notice that support is beginning to build for the Yankees to keep Joe Torre as their manager. Of course, that is subject to change, as we all know very well. It's just difficult to name anyone the Yankees could hire that would be better than Torre. Lou Piniella is a terrific manager, but he's so tempestuous that his clubhouse is frequently tense for prolonged periods. And, aside from Lou, who is there? Perhaps this is the beginning of the Yankee organization getting serious about taking a critical look at itself---what it has been doing and why it hasn't been working. Building a major league team the right way is not something that takes place over night but, when it is accomplished, is well worth the wait. The Yankees have to develop a little real patience. That has never been part of their action plan under Steinbrenner, who has always wanted to win yesterday. They must stop ensnaring themselves in long-term, no-escape contracts with players who used to be terrific. Until they do those things, the wheel will just keep turning, and the "hamster" will never really get anywhere.

Re: New York Baseball Fans Are Miserable Creeps!

The only thing is Joe Torre doesnt manage anymore. I mean the clearest example of this is the Bloody Sock game of 04 when Curt Schilling although pitching well had the mobility of Jabba the Hutt! Wouldn't it be easy to bunt of him? That was the worst but the Yankees are frequently ill prepared for games as they were last week against the Tigers and even players are beginning to resent him for simply not managing. He hardly ever comes out and argues close calls anymore which might let the ump give him the next close call. Joe doesn't care anymore and I doubt many people can argue that. If you want to keep him as a manager the result will be Alfonso Soriano or Barry Zito to "fix the problem" of 2006, another AL East pennant and a 1st round elimination like the past 2 years. If that is satisfactory then keep this human garden snail. From 2004 to present I say this with no exagerration...the worst manager in baseball. He brings in Mariano in 11-5 games???? Gee thats good especially when ol' Joe wants him constantly to get 6 outs! He's John MacNamara reincarnated. He sucks to put it bluntly.

Re: New York Baseball Fans Are Miserable Creeps!

With respect, Trashed, what a manager does during the course of the games is only a part of his obligations. He's also responsible for doing what he can to maintain a harmonious atmosphere in the clubhouse. He must make decisions concerning injured players---when to use them and when to sit them. He must allot sufficient playing time for support-quality players to stay reaonably sharp. He must make critical decisions about players who are not productive. He must be supportive of rookies and newly-acquired players, so the new environment doesn't overwhelm them. Needless to say, he must also be the organization's spokesperson to the media. And, this is only a partial list of his non-game duties. Torre's regular season record has been pretty outstanding, even in the recent lean years. The lack of postseason success points, it seems to me, to fundamental flaws in the roster-building process.

So you feel that they can win another World Series with no manager? Nobody to motivate them? That's the same thing as keeping Torre! Torre is the Barry Switzer of baseball. And how can you call these years "lean" when they've acquired almost every all star in baseball to play for them???? You're just playing devil's advocate like Gotham does right? I mean you're not serious about the Yankees keeping Torre. I figured that you were just showing another side to the dilemma. I mean at this point I believe Charles Manson would be a better manager...at least ol' Charlie is great at motivating people. It's interesting to see the other side chtz but in reality we both know he must be fired. Good reasons if there can be any on your point, I was getting worried there for a second. Besides were supposed to be talking about the As/Tigers/Cards or Mets not the Bronx Torre's. Let's show some positivity cuz there aint none on the dreadful Yankees but theres loads on the 4 teams I mentioned.

Cool Re: New York Baseball Fans Are Miserable Creeps!

I agree with Trashed that Torre has not done a good job since 2004. It started in the Sox series when he was a spectator and forgot he was a manager....But the reason the Yankees are on the radio and not the Mets is basically because people love car wrecks...Analyzing a Championship series that is 2 days away makes for boring radio compared to the Yankees turmoil.

Yeah I figured this too. The Torre's were world series win or bust and it came out bust and everyone must be attracted to this disaster of an organziation called the Yankees. A true disservice to the NEW YORK Mets.

It has been a shock that one of the strongest dynasties in baseball history has gradually sloped downhill.

That's the way dynasties slip my friend. Slowly. Like the Celtics, Red Wings, 49ers, Cowboys, Blue Jays and past Yankee teams (Bob Lemon's gang). They all just go out and try to replace key parts with expensive superstars and it messes up the team's chemistry and eventually makes the manager a goat. It doesn't work. Thats why I have respect for the Bulls of the 90s when Jackson and Jordan left to dismantle the team and start from scratch with young guys and be patient. Who wants to see mediocrity?

The Kansas City Royals and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays would wish to see mediocrity!

I just loved that, Trashed....my sentiments exactly. I've found ONE bar in this ridiculous city that is populated by ACTUAL baseball fans (not just Yankee fans), and that is the only place I'll go anymore to watch a game, other than my living room. Go Mets!!

Wondering something, Trashed.

The title of your post is "New York Baseball Fans Are Miserable Creeps!"

But you, yourself, are a Mets fan... doesn't that make you a miserable creep?
