| Smith asserting himself in QB race Second year Troy Smith has so far outplayed the competition at the Ravens mini camp. With first round pick Joe Flacco absent due to a NFL-NCAA rule and Kyle Boller struggling with batted passes and inaccuracy, Smith took advantage of the opportunity to work with the first team offense for the majority of the snaps. Smith still lacks zip and timing in his intermediate and deep throws, but he has great leadership skills and lots of confidence. | Re: Smith asserting himself in QB race No surprise. People wanted to scoff when I mentioned Smith had a chance to start the season as this teams QB, and could even be their guy of the future. He's definitely raw and in need of refinement, but I think the ability is there. They may have jumped the gun going after Flacco, but without the rookie in camp, Smith's getting his chance anyway and its nice to see him making the most of it.

| Re: Smith asserting himself in QB race yeah i noticed that in the first game he played in his first play he went deep and almost hit his reciever and that was after sitting on th bench almost the entire game. i think he has a real chance because kyle boller isnt too consistent even thought some games he is amazing, he also has a couple games where he cant find his rythym, i dont have a doubt that troy smith wont have a problem with this but he might get used to the NFL quicker and who knows, he could end up being a hall of famer in years to come. |
