Neither...neither left me thinking..."if I only had him on our team we could..."...good players and it has to stop there...no shame in that...but no exaltation either.

Still no on Wycheck, Gotham? Statistically he's one of the five best pass-catching tight ends of all time.

Man, I really just can't ...I like the guy, I wouldn't mind him on my team...but I 'd take a Jay Novacek over him...if I had to pick a name that rhymes...

Maybe I am under appreciating the man...

Look, I will give you that he is probably one of the best 6th round picks in the last 2 decades...how's that......I mean that is as close as I can come to it...

Well, at least it's progress. Baby steps, I suppose.
Seriously, though, he was a fantastic tight end. Very underrated.

There is lies part of the problem...the other one I see is he scored all of 28 times in 11 years...so he was not a go to guy in the red zone...and I have to deduct some for that.

Jay Novacek- 11 yrs pro
Receptions 422 Receiving Yards 4,630 Touchdowns 30

Frank Wycheck- 10 yrs pro
Receptions 505 Receiving Yards 5,126 Touchdowns 28

you continue to amaze me goth, wycheck has 83 more receptions, 496 more yards and played 1 yr less than he did. Not to mention he was part of one of the greatest plays in nfl history (music city miracle) wycheck is a HOF lock..

Re: McNair courageous, but HOF will be tough call

Well I agree about Wycheck AND Novacek being elected to the HOF but I don't think McNair deserves it. The guy was always hurt and didn't have enough HOF caliber seasons. So for the Tight End discussion I vote yes on both for McNair I have to vote no although I do think he was a very good quarterback.

Well, if Wycheck's a Hall of Fame tight end, I don't think McNair's a Hall of Fame QB.
But if he isn't, then I think McNair does belong in the Hall. Does that make any sense at all?

NO

Just to clarify I dont think McNair belongs in the Hall either. If there was a category for heart and courage, he would belong at the top. But since there isnt, he doesnt belong there. He was a darn good qb and special in his way, but not HOF good.

Re: McNair courageous, but HOF will be tough call

Well, basically to me it comes down to, if McNair didn't have a Hall of Fame receiver (Wycheck), then maybe he DOES deserve to be in the Hall.

Dude...get real...Novacek was part of the reason the Cowboys won three titles...He was Aikman's go to guy underneath...How do you not value is contributions to Dallas' three rings?...I would take Novacek over Wycheck any day of the week...obviously you miss seeing the guy play when he was in Dallas...

Wycheck was every bit the player Novachek was. Not his fault he didn't have an Aikman, an Emmitt and an Irvin around him... if he did, he'd have won three Super Bowl rings too. Personally, I'd call these two equals in every phase of the game and put both of them in the Hall of Fame.

And I would not...contribution to a winner has always been part of what seperates the very good from the Hall of Famers when their careers are not sterling enough...go see one Terry Bradshaw...he is in there...a guy like Archie Manning is not...give me Novacek...the WINNER...

Re: McNair courageous, but HOF will be tough call

If you put McNair in the HOF then you had better plan on expanding it, since you will have to put in quite a few more players. He is in no way a HOFer.

Sounds to me like Goth is equating Ring and HOF, no matter what the stats are. Or the surrounding cast. And I am so NOT with goth on this one.
If you put one in, you put both in.
