In an odd story, first reported by the Baltimore sports blog
The Nest, a Baltimore Ravens player has been charged with assaulting a former Ravens player.
Although few details are available, a search of the
District Court of Maryland web site reveals that Ravens safety Gerome Sapp was issued a summons and has a trial date scheduled for Feb. 8, which also happens to be Sapp's 27th birthday. The charge is assault-second degree, and the incident allegedly took place on Dec. 29, the same day that Sapp was placed on injured reserve.
The District Court of Maryland web site also lists as the complainant a Joseph M. Maese.
Joe Maese, a long snapper, played for the Ravens for four seasons.
