Re: Ravens eyeing Canadian sack leader

It never hurts to gamble, I suppose. Baltimore has invited Canadian LB Ricky Foley to training camp. Foley led all Canadian universities with nine sacks last season, and is a 6-2, 255 pound prospect. Anyone think this kid might shock us all and make the Ravens squad?

Re: Baltimore signs Foley

Well would you look at that? The Ravens signed Foley to a one-year free agent deal, and he'll have a legit chance to make the club. How good are the odds? Foley seems to think they're pretty good. "There's a spot for me on this team if I work hard and don't screw up. If I play the way I know I can, then I know I'm going to make it," he said. What do you think -- can the kid pull it off and play in the NFL?

You know, I don't know if he will make the squad, but I love it when a team is willing to take chances and go in a different direction...like converting a world class hurdler into a wideout etc...kudos for the Raven for taking a chance.

Re: Ravens eyeing Canadian sack leader

Yep, everybody says defense wins championships. But maybe its thinking outside the box that really wins championships. At any rate, I'd love to see this kid catch on. I've got a soft spot in my heart for those Canadian footballers, whether they're born and bred there like ol' Mike "I lost the Grey Cup" Vanderjagt or they're born in the U.S. and go up north to become legends like Doug "I'll show you too short to play QB!" Flutie. You gotta love 'em!
