QB Boller could leave Ravens next year?

Could this be Kyle Boller's last training camp with the Ravens? Or does he have a future with the team? "I can't tell you what is going to happen, but we'll know in a couple of months," said Boller, who will be an unrestricted free agent in March. "It's just not worth thinking about it. I'm having a great time being here right now. I don't know if I want to know what's going to happen." Ravens coach Brian Billick, who has always supported Boller, has said he could foresee a situation where Boller would return to the Ravens in 2008. But the Ravens are committed to McNair as their starter for at least another season, so they couldn't offer Boller anything more than a backup role. Still, Boller said he hasn't ruled out coming back to the Ravens. "I love the organization and my teammates," Boller said. "I just want to play, plain and simple." Recent history indicates Boller likely will be playing elsewhere next season. -- Baltimore Sun

If Im not mistaken, didnt they already try him as a starter and he failed miserably hence steve mcnair..

Well McNair is getting old...but Boller seemed to have had his shot already...I like him, but I am not sure he is the answer.

I think Boller's had his chance. But Baltimore better think real quick about another quarterback. McNair isnt going to be able to start much longer.

I'll tell you what, Troy Smith ain't the guy. What was he, 3-of-11 yesterday? Drew Olsen looked pretty good though, throwing a TD pass.

Baltimore probably will have a mid to late round first round pick which probably means Andre Woodson or Colt Brennan

Re: QB Boller could leave Ravens next year?

Unless Smith develops quickly, the Ravens don't have a long term QB solution right now. I've never been a Boller basher, but he is not the answer. I've heard more than one NFL coach say that the one thing you can't teach a QB is throwing accuracy and that is very important to being successful. Boller will never be an accurate passer, so he will be a career back up.

Baltimore apparently thought they saw enough in Smith that they kept him over UCLA's Drew Olsen. Was that a smart move, john?

Too early to say but I wouldn't put all my eggs in that basket. Even if they draft someone next year, unless that is a great pic (and the Ravens weak link is evaluating QB talent), he won't be ready in one year.

So it is a concern. I don't think Byron Leftwich is the answer if we would have to give him a bunch of salary cap money to sit for a year or two.
