In just over two weeks, the day every Ravens fan has waited for with baited breath will be here—the start of training camp. For 12 years now, the Ravens have been gathering at McDaniel College in Westminster, and with each passing year they set records for fan attendance. This year should see another milestone fall. If you can’t make the trek out to Westminster, stay tuned to this site for all the latest happenings at camp, including reports, exclusive photos and videos of all the action. This is part one of a two-part camp primer. This week we look over the offense, the battles for positions and biggest questions.
There are a few questions the team will need answer before embarking on the 2007 season. Injuries, of course, are always a concern for every team. There is a fine line between getting the players ready for the start of the season and pushing them too hard, putting them at greater risk for injury. Even so, after a very disappointing end to last season, where the team was eliminated in their first game of the playoffs, the players and coaches are looking to start off on the right foot.
“We’re going to start [training camp] fast,” says head coach Brian Billick. “If they don’t know what to do on the first day back, it’s going to be hard for me to understand. I’m going to have a less than calm demeanor if they don’t know where they’re supposed to be.”
Trevor Pryce echoed Billick’s thoughts and wants to capitalize on last year. “Trying to pick up where you left off. The challenge is to start fast. That’s the biggest thing, nothing else.”
