| Mcnair Busted In TN Ravens quarterback Steve McNair has been arrested in Tennessee, according to our friends at WBAL in Baltimore. McNair is charged under Tennessee's "DUI owner" law, which makes the owner of the car responsible if someone is driving the thing drunk. McNair's brother-in-law, Jamie Cartwright ("Cartwright!") was driving the car, and was arrested for DUI. He refused to take a breathalyzer test. The former long-time Titans quarterback was booked and released. He did not comment to reporters. Now, for the important business. The charge is a misdemeanor. It is not McNair's first brush with the law. In 2003, he was arrested for DUI and possession of a handgun. More than a year later, a judge found that the arresting officer did not have "reasonable suspicion" to pull McNair over, and thus suppressed evidence of the failed breathalyzer test and the gun found in the glove compartment. In other words, McNair was factually guilty, but not legally guilty. The irony this time around is that McNair faces scrutiny not for something he did, but merely because another person was driving his car while allegedly drunk. However, in such a situation (see Odell Thurman), it's reasonable to infer that Cartwright ("Cartwright!") was less drunk than McNair. |

| Re: Mcnair Busted In TN I thought they should build a special facility for NFL players but it would take up too much real estate.. Mike and the Mad Dog said 284 arrests happened in the past 5 years of NFL players. Maybe they should all watch Gridiron Gang with Dwayne The Rock Johnson and get their act together. |

| Re: Mcnair Busted In TN McNair's DUI case stays under review Steve McNair's attorney called him with an audible on Wednesday: the former Titans quarterback's driving under the influence case was rescheduled for July 10. McNair, who now plays for the Baltimore Ravens, wasn't required to be in a General Sessions courtroom when attorney Roger May believed McNair's case would be settled. "Steve is disappointed; anybody would be,'' May said. "I called him and told him what the settlement was and he was fine with it obviously. And then all of a sudden I have to call him back and say, 'Hold on.' '' According to May and Cartwright's attorney, Ed Ryan, an agreement had been reached with the district attorney's office to settle Cartwright's case, and under those circumstances, the owner-passenger case is usually dismissed. But the district attorney's office opted to take more time to review the file, according to the attorneys, who would not discuss the settlement offer. Susan Niland, director of communications for the district attorney's office, declined to address the specifics of the case. May also represented McNair in a 2003 DUI case that was dropped.
