Cool Jim Fassel fired

I'm surprised at this news because Fassel and Brian Billick are good friends. I guess not anymore.....Also, I wonder what's with Fassel? For a coach who got his team to the Super Bowl and had an overall pretty decent run with the Giants, he hasn't even come close to getting a head coaching job.

Re: Jim Fassel fired

How the mighty have fallen. Years ago, Fassel was touted as one of the best offensive minds in the NFL. Now, he can't get the Ravens to score some points and is fired by his good friend.

I can't see him getting another head coaching job in the NFL anytime soon. It's either wait for another OC job in the NFL or go to NCAA.

Re: Jim Fassel fired

This was about Billick wanting to micro-manage again, which is a mistake. Yes, you can't deny that the numbers aren't good -- 10 touchdowns in six games and 16 or fewer points scored on three occasions. But I seem to recall that the Ravens offense was downright poor under Billick the first time, and that's why Fassell was brought in to begin with. Fassell will catch on somewhere, I'd bet. He is a good coach, deep down. Somewhere.

Re: Jim Fassel fired

Did you guys hear the latest on this? Apparently, Fassell was half-arsing his job. He was too busy putting together resumes and trying to land a head coaching job that he was not putting forth enough effort as an offensive coordinator. Billick apparently got sick of it and canned him. Granted, this is all rumor and hearsay, but... wow. Fascinating if it's true.

Re: Jim Fassel fired

I could see Jim Fassel landing back on his feet as an offensive coordinator once again. If one of the OCs gets a head coaching job, then Fassel should be able to land there.

With Brian Billick calling the plays, if the Ravens do not get to the playoffs, then Brian Billick has to go.

Re: Jim Fassel fired

Fassell fired back last week, saying that taking this job over the Stanford head coaching job was the biggest mistake of his career, and that he never had full control or authority of the offense under Billick. Whatever the case, this is just proof positive that friends should never work together. Now Fassell's future is cloudy and their relationship is most likely irreparably damaged.

Wow. That's wild Lefty All I can say that something is not right with Fassel. For him not to even get a sniff for a head coaching job has to tell you somethig.
