Tony Fein, a former Iraqi War veteran and trying to make the team as a rookie backup linebacker, was charged with misdemeanor assault on a police officer. The incident occurred at the Inner Harbor restaurant.
A group of men of which Fein was a part were passing around a large silver object suspected of being a firearm. Police were called and the officers approached the men and asked Fein to stand up, but he refused. He stood up after being asked a second time and shoved an officer in the chest.
Fein was not in possession of a handgun. The object in question was a large square metallic cell phone.
Security at the restaurant has been on high alert after a number of violent incidents including a gang shooting.
