Here is a Christmas list for the struggling Baltimore Orioles.
1. Cesar Izturis- After losing Miguel Tejada not too long ago, who seemed to one of the faces of the franchise, they could still use a solid player at shortstop. Izturis could be that perfect player for the O's. He seems to be declining, however he won a gold glove in 2004, and was an all-star in 2005. In 2008 he hit .263 with 1 homerun and 24 RBIs for the St. Louis Cardinals. He is 28 years old so his career could possibly take an upwars turn anytime. Even if his hitting never quite gets amazing, he still has a pretty good glove.
2. Veteran Pitcher- I think a veteran pitcher in that club house could do wonders for them, even if it is only for a season. A veteran pitcher could help guys out, teach pitchers new techniques, and just having veteran presence can really help out a ball club. On top of all that there is also the fact that they can win some games to and help out the win loss record. So here are two guys I think they could consider signing, Randy Johnson, and Freddy Garcia. Before you start saying I'm crazy remember I mean one season, so no long term stuff here. One year with them could help out some young guys.
3. Good Outfielder- I think this off-season they should really splurge and pay for a good outfielder, not a decent one, a good one. If the Orioles want to win, they might have to spend some money to get some good players. I think maybe paying a lot to get Bobby Abreu could be a good move. However another plan could be Pat Burell.
So that is my Christmas list for the Baltimore Orioles.
