The Baltimore Orioles have cut Jay Gibbons, eating over $11 million of his salary in the process. Stupid move?

That's a big contract to eat...I wonder who gets to fall on the sword for that one...

It does show they may finally have a direction and guys like Gibbons aren't in the mix.

True, but that IS a lot of dought to eat. I was telling someone about this yesterday and he said, for $11 million, I'm keeping him on the team, if only to do beer runs for the rest of the guys. If you're making a statement, fine, but that is one costly statement to make.
