The Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday purchased the contract of pitcher Rob Bell from Class AAA Norfolk and released pitcher Paul Shuey.

Bell, who was designated for assignment on August 30 when pitcher Jon Leicester was added to the roster, will join the team for Wednesday's game against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

The 30-year-old is 3-3 with a 6.49 ERA in 21 relief appearances with the Orioles this season.

Shuey, who is 0-1 with a 9.82 ERA and a save in 25 games with the Orioles, was given his outright release after clearing waivers. The 36-year-old reached a low point with the club on August 22 when he allowed nine runs in two innings during the Orioles' 30-3 loss to the Texas Rangers.

In the Tribe's defense, they did have Omar Visquel at the time, and pitching was their biggest concern, so...
