Cool Tejada on the block

From Yahoo:
Quote:
Steve Scholfield of the North County Times has some ideas for improving the San Diego Padres' lineup:

Here's a trade idea. Go after Baltimore Orioles shortstop Miguel Tejada and move him either to third or second base.

It would cost them one or two top prospects plus Scott Linebrink.
The Orioles should definitely make this move. They'd save money on Tejada's ridiculous contract and Linebrink is a quality middle man. I don't know why the Padres would do it. Tejada's not even close to being the player he was. And he'd be going to a pitcher's park from a bandbox.

Re: Tejada on the block

San Diego desperately needs a bat, but I can't imagine Tejada's the answer. On the other hand, like you said, this would be a great deal for the O's.

Re: Tejada on the block

Has it come down to this. A stud SS, although on the decline, is only worth one middle relief. They should get a little more.

One middle reliever and two top prospects. Prospects are gold to a team like the Orioles. Not to mention the salary they'd dump.

I guess I should have paid attention to the whole quote. I didn't see that when I read it.

Yeah come on now, a middle reliever?...are you kidding me...yrah Tejadas has been injured this year, but no way he goes for so little.

I think they would trade him for ham sandwich if they could get rid of his salary. My guess is that he'll clear wavers if the O's want to trade him.

Re: Tejada on the block

I know it's been mentioned but the Padres I think would be a great fit for him despite him being on the decline. They need some power and he can supply it plus being in the playoff hunt may give him extra incentive to do well.

Don't the Padres have Khalil Greene there?...decent power 17 dingers and a glove...and Tejadas would have to get used to hitting NL pitching.

Cool Re: Tejada on the block

Actually the perfect team for him would be the Cubs. With Soriano out, they can use the pop and can put Theriot at 2b...and they can afford him.

They want to keep Fontenot and DeRosa playing

De Rosa? He has no pop. Being that the Cubs are contenders this year, if they could get Tejada, I think it would be the right move.

DeRosa is 3rd on the team in RBIs and make great defensive plays at every position
