Cool Bedard performance

Quote:
As Erik Bedard's strikeout total kept rising, Baltimore Orioles designated hitter Jay Gibbons could only shake his head in disbelief as he watched from the dugout Saturday night.

"That's as good as I've ever seen a pitcher throw," Gibbons said. "I've never seen so many bad swings in my life. These guys didn't have a chance."

Bedard struck out 15 to tie a franchise record and allowed two hits in his first career complete game, leading the Orioles over the Texas Rangers 3-0.

Bedard (7-4) faced the minimum 27 hitters.

Minimum amt of batters? 15K's? Not bad, huh?

Re: Bedard performance

That's an incredible performance for Bedard. And what a testament to how good he is and how bad the Orioles are that he has a 3.40 ERA, a 1.13 WHIP, is just about on pace for 300 strikeouts and is only 7-4 on the season!

Bedard Hurls 15 K's Ties Franchise Record

Erik Bedard
from Navan, Ont., struck out 15 to tie a franchise record and allowed two hits in his first career shutout, leading the Orioles past the Rangers 3-0. Bedard (7-4) faced the minimum 27 hitters. Desi Relaford singled with one out in the first and Sammy Sosa singled leading off the eighth, but Bedard induced double-play grounders to erase each runner.
Bedard leads the mlb in K's with 149 so far..

Didn't realize that Bedard tied the franchise record for K's. Who'd he tie? Jim Palmer, right? Gotta be Jim Palmer.
