The Baltimore Sun is reporting that Dusty Baker is a possible candidate to become the next manager of the Baltimore Orioles.

According to the report, Andy MacPhail, the team's new president of baseball operations, confirmed that he has had some discussions with Baker.

Why would Dusty want it is right. It's a no-win situation. Dusty could get a better job if he waited until the off-season, he can't possibly think this is his last chance to get a gig.

Hmmm.... I suppose Baker is the front-runner, but a lot of Baltimore fans would rather see Davey Johnson at the helm. Torey Lovullo, Joey Cora, Jerry Manuel, Don Baylor, Tony Pena, and Larry Bowa are the other choices.

Johnson's pretty much said he doesn't want anything to do with the job. Perlozzo was a good friend of his. Baylor or Manuel make sense to me.

Im thinking Dusty will relax and make money staying on espn as a baseball analyst until he gets a better offer and/or situation..Nobody Ive heard wants to touch the O's job with a ten foot pole..

Baker could manage my team any day of the week. Nobody wins with the Cubs. How has Lou Piniella done since he got there and they actually gave him some talent to work with.
