It's being reported that the Orioles are about to sign Steve Trachsel to a one year deal to replace Kris Benson. The Orioles are very into signing Mets' castoffs.

Well, they traded one of their own cast-offs in Julio for Benson. Of course, the Mets did get John Maine from that deal so it was A+ for them.

As for Trachsel, eh. His final couple of months as a Met were so bad it's hard to think he was once a very steady and reliable pitcher. If the Orioles come to Shea this year and he pitches, he'll get boooood out of the building.

Warning to O's fans...prepare for some long games. Trachsel is infamous for his delaying on the mound.

Not only long but if there's a pressure game, he might just walk off the mound.

I never really cared for his pitching, but he is just about as average as it gets.

That's about right. His good is very good but his bad is as bad as you can imagine. He should pitch 30 games though so he's a decent filler for the back end of the rotation I suppose.
