The Baltimore Orioles snapped a four game losing streak yesterday, beating the New York Yankees 9-4. And they wasted little time building what turned out to be an insurmountable lead, according to Associated Press reports of the game.
Quote:
Two batters into the bottom of the first, Baltimore led 2-0. Brian Roberts hit a leadoff single and Mora followed with his 15th home run on a 1-2 pitch.
Baltimore sent eight men to the plate in a five-run second. Singles by Ramon Hernandez, Roberts and Nick Markakis filled the bases for Miguel Tejada, who was 0-for-9 with the bases loaded this season.
Tejada bounced a two-run single up the middle to chase Lidle, and Gibbons greeted Jose Veras with a three-run shot to right. It was Gibbons' 12th homer, the first since July 30.

It's hard to know what to make of this Baltimore team sometimes. They're just 6-7 against the Yankees this year, but they've beaten NY three straight times. Sometimes its hard to get a feel for whether this is a team on the rise or on the decline, isn't it? Where are the Orioles at right now?
