| Tuberville finally gets Rhoads to Auburn AUBURN - Tony Franklin came to Auburn last month with a fancy new spread offense that enthralled the fans. Paul Rhoads, author of a coaching DVD with the simple title of "Tackling Concepts and Drills," is coming to coach a different part of the game. Auburn is set to introduce Rhoads as its new defensive coordinator, perhaps today, after hiring Franklin as its offensive coordinator last month. Sources within the Auburn athletic department confirmed the hiring of Rhoads, but the university did not publicly announce it as the school formally worked through the hiring process. Sources said Rhoads is set to earn a similar salary to that of former Auburn defensive coordinator Will Muschamp, whose contract paid him $325,000 last season. Pittsburgh paid Rhoads $180,000 last season. Muschamp was in line for a $100,000 raise, but he left Auburn on Jan. 4 to become the defensive coordinator at Texas.
