| Tiger football team returns plenty to make run in 2008 AUBURN - Will Muschamp chuckled last month when asked if he was taking a long look at his unproven true freshmen in bowl practice. "Most of the freshmen," observed Muschamp, "played for us this year." True enough, Auburn completed a 9-4 season with a 23-20 overtime win over Clemson in the Chick-fil-A Bowl on Monday night with a remarkably young starting lineup. The Tigers started only two seniors on offense and three on defense. Auburn is set to start the 2008 season likely ranked in the Top 25 with a young-but-experienced team that figures to be much wiser after spring practice and fall workouts under new offensive coordinator Tony Franklin, who crammed his spread offense down the Tigers' throats in just 10 bowl practices. Nonetheless, Auburn responded by running 90 plays and gaining a season-high 423 yards against Clemson, and showed flashes of how the spread can drive people crazy when the quarterback runs.
