| Burns, baby, Burns ATLANTA - Kodi Burns raced into the end zone, stretched out his arms in glee and embraced the future. The freshman quarterback's 7-yard touchdown run in overtime gave Auburn a 23-20 victory over Clemson in the Chick-fil-A Bowl on Monday night in the Georgia Dome as the Tigers made a successful debut with its new spread offense. Coach Tommy Tuberville rushed the offense into operation after just 10 days of practice. The offense performed admirably. The Tigers didn't huddle a single time. It took every snap out of the shotgun. Auburn ran a whopping 90 plays and finished with 423 yards. It was all a radical departure under new offensive coordinator Tony Franklin from what Auburn did in the regular season. The appearance of Burns was also different. The all-but-forgotten quarterback who didn't play in the final two regular-season games shared the quarterback duties with senior Brandon Cox in the see-saw affair. It was a virtual 50-50 split. Burns scored the game-winner with his legs and saw his only completion go for a 22-yard touchdown to Mario Fannin. Cox went out throwing, too. The fifth-year senior hit 25-of-39 passes. Full Story
