| No fancy stuff: Tigers met speed with power AUBURN - Auburn knew the fastest way to upsetting Florida last Saturday was playing mean football right in the middle of the line and leaving all the fancy stuff to tricksters and pretenders. The Tigers' offense followed through by running right at the Gators and the Auburn defense clogged the middle with four active linemen. The result was another Top 10 victory for the Tigers - their ninth in their last 10 chances - in a 20-17 shocker over the then-No. 4 Gators in Florida Field. The Tigers decided early on they didn't want to get in a race with Florida's speedy athletes. So they tried a different tack. "With Florida," said center Jason Bosley, "it's hard to run sideline to sideline, but if you come right at them, you've got a chance." With Ben Tate running for a tough 65 yards inside, and Mario Fannin doing most of his 62 yards of work in the same area, Auburn was able to limit Florida's otherwise high-powered offense to 55 plays by playing keep away. The Tigers' sometimes-maligned offense countered with 70 plays. No fancy stuff: Tigers met speed with power- al.com
