| Tigers' transition season has roles for young players Twenty true and redshirt freshmen have played in Auburn's first three games. Don't be shocked if the Tigers open up another can of young players before the season is through. Auburn isn't in a rebuilding year, but it is in a season of sudden transition that even coach Tommy Tuberville says may take a few more weeks to sort out. Get used to it. Auburn has used a younger and younger roster each of the first three games as redshirt seasons are reconsidered. Injuries have caused some of that, but injuries aren't all of it. The Tigers haven't been afraid to pull a veteran for a freshman. The trend started before the season when lineman Lee Ziemba won a starting job and continued when freshman quarterback Kodi Burns replaced Brandon Cox last week. Better keep your roster handy this non-conference week, too. Job security isn't what it used to be. Tuberville said the team is not panicking, and, indeed, the initial moves have paid dividends. Ziemba already is one of the Tigers' best linemen. Burns led Auburn on its only touchdown drives last week. Redshirt freshman tailback Mario Fannin would be a big help, too - if he wouldn't keep giving Tigers' transition season has roles for young players- al.com
