Auburn Tigers Pro Day

AUBURN - Auburn football held its annual NFL Pro Day Monday with 18 former Tigers working out in front of NFL scouts for approximately four hours.

The group, which was broken up into different sub-groups primarily based on positions, spent time in two different sessions. The first session was held indoors at the John H. Watson Fieldhouse, and consisted of workouts in measurable testing. Those drills included standing long jumps, vertical jumps, 225-pound bench presses, the 40-yard dash and shuttle conditioning drills.

Re: Auburn Tigers Pro Day

So, did any former Tigers help or hurt their Draft status at the university's pro day?

Re: Auburn Tigers Pro Day

I think Courtney Taylor is going to be a football player for someone. He's not the fastest but he can be a physical type receiver and an end zone threat. I like Kenny Irons a lot, but think he'll be better as part of a committee (which is becoming very popular in the NFL) rather than as a work horse type back.

Ben Grubbs looks the business, but given the value of guards, I don't see him going top 25, probably between 25-35 and someone will nab themselves a top player.

Courtney Taylor
On his workout today...

"I'm satisfied and happy with my day. I feel like I had a great day. It feels good to get back here and be around the guys and see them doing their jobs." On working out here as well as the combine...
"Basically I wanted to get my 40-yard-dash down because I had a lot of teams that clocked me at a 4.4 or mid-4.4s, but my official time was a 4.5 flat. I wanted to show them that I was a 4.4 guy today and I did that, twice. I ran two 4.4s, ran a low 4.4 actually. I'm still amazed by that, but that's why you stuff at the combine. You find a lot of guys that like to skip out, I guess, and wait until Pro Day, but you get to improve all of your grades."

Taylor improved his time in the 40, so I am guessing his stock might raise a bit...

Re: Auburn Tigers Pro Day

Hopefully that's the case. I'd guess he'll go in the 3rd round, maybe slip to the 4th depending on what teams want around that time. I just like the fact he will make the tough catches over the middle and as a big target, can be a red zone threat.
