A couple of big trades for the Atlanta Thrashers this weekend. First, they acquire D Alexei Zhitnik from the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday night for former first-round draft pick Braydon Coburn. Then today, they landed forward Keith Tkachuk in a deal with the St. Louis Blues. Tkachuck cost the Thrashers forward Glen Metropolit, a first-round draft pick in 2007 and two other picks... is he worth it? How much do these additions help Atlanta, who is just 2-6-2 in their last 10 games?

I would say it was too expensive to get Tkachuk, but it's that playoff fever thing.

Some people are going to say it's too much. You know what? talk to me at the end of the year about it.
Chance are, we can see him then and say,
See? Too much. but you never know. Heck, i have Tkachuk in my fantasy team so i like him, but he is a short term investment for a team making a run for the cup.
Tkachuk is an unrestricted free agent after this season, so he's going to leave for the highest $$ after the season ends.

Can't go wrong with Tkachuk. Give the Thrashers credit, they're going for it all.

I'm stuck at just below 500, have been for weeks, but I'm not getting worse - Huet out is a blow, but he was sucking for a while anyway.
I dumped tucker. Feel bad deep down doing that.
and hey being a leafs fan, I 've learned to love/hate the underdog myself. Two sides of the same coin.

Looking at the thrashers - what a team. They have an amazing roster. I can dream the Leafs will achieve that some day.
