WILLIAMSBURG -- Growing up poor, Michael Vick never envisioned a day like this. Playing golf at a plush resort like Kingsmill was one thing. Announcing his own charity to help at-risk kids, that seemed right out of fantasyland.

Of course, Vick never could have imagined being the first pick of the 2001 NFL draft and eventually signing a contract worth more than $100 million. Friday morning, during a press conference at Kingsmill, he put it all where his mouth is. The Vick Foundation, which will support after-school programs in Hampton Roads and Atlanta, is off and running.


Can we take it as another sign of a maturing Michael Vick?

Its great that hes giving so much to charity. Just dont draft him as your starting QB come late august guys. Everyone ends up trying to trade him by week 5.

Yeah but its always tempting isn't it?...One year he will keep on going past week 5...

Well now every league has a "utility player" which inevitably has to be a QB because they usually rack up the most points even though its a system designed to fail because of the high injury rate of the NFL and you just have another guy you pray doesnt tear his ACL. I guess Vick would be good for that...if they let him run. As a pocket passer...well its all been said before hasnt it?

Too late! I entered an autodraft league and got him and Carson Palmer. Man I hope Palmer's healthy...

See now, I like my man Drew. I think he is a thinking man's QB...of course he won't have Gates and Tmlinson to dump to...but Bush and Deuce should do nicely.

Well im actually a big Brees fan but did you see Pennington's comeback in 2005? Thats the same injury, same time, same avg. arm to start with. Now is that what you want as your starting QB?
