Falcons after Pete Carroll

Interesting report in the January 9 edition of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution:
"The Falcons' coaching search may be getting juicier. Late Tuesday night, ESPN.com, citing multiple sources, reported that Falcons owner Arthur Blank is pursuing USC coach Pete Carroll." What do you think about Carroll as the next Atlanta coach, Falcons fans?

Having watched Carol coach the Jets very closely, I don't like it. College and Pros are 2 different animals. Just ask Butch Davis, Lou Holtz, Dennis Erickson, Bobby Petrino, Nick Saban, etc......

And you would think the Falcons especially would think twice before hiring another collegiate coach.

When will they learn. Some people are college coaches for a reason. They can not handle the NFL.

If Pete Carroll comes back to the NFL, he will want to go to a place were he can win now. Atlanta isn't that place.

Re: Falcons after Pete Carroll

The more I think of this, the more I'm convinced it's a terrible idea.

1. Carroll is a college coach, and the Atlanta players have just been burned by a college coach.
2. He's failed in the NFL in the past.
3. He's a laid back sort of guy - definitely NOT what the Falcons need.

Article on espn.com is sayin Carroll is interested. I think he would be stupid. As bad as I dislike USC, he shouldn't leave, especially for Atlanta

Bad marriage all the way around, but I guess he wants to prove he can win in the NFL.

Re: Falcons after Pete Carroll

He is either talking to Blank to extort more money from USC or he is looking for a big payday. Either way, he's not an idiot. He would have complete control of everything in Atlanta.

Well, I guess if and when he fails, he could always go find another school to take him in. But the grass isn't always greener on the other side. He's got a good salary, a perennial winning program, easy recruiting and a job for life with the Trojans. Why risk that for a return to the NFL?

That is just what I was thinking. He is set for life in that program. Why would he want to leave to get beat every week.

he's either smart to get more money, or just plain stupid because of ego.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I'd prefer winning and job security to a few extra zeroes on my check. Heck, how much money does one man need?

I'd be surprised if Carroll leaves USC. He's a god there. Why does he need the headache?
