Vick's Prison Sentence May Be Shortened

Michael Vick might be back sooner than we think.

Humane Society and PETA picketers better keep those posters ready, as there's a chance Michael Vick could be back on the field for the 2009 season.

Yahoo Sports is reporting that the Falcons quarterback could end up serving as few as 12 months of his 23 month sentence thanks to his entry into a drug rehab program in prison. By connecting the dots, the story speculates that Vick could be back in the NFL for the 2009 season, as he would likely wrap up his sentence early next year.

Good for him.

I am sure that if he plays...it won't be in Atlanta...

12 months sounds much fairer to me. I thought 2 years was really harsh. No way he'll ever play another game for Atlanta.

Now let me see. A dogs life is about 12-20 years and he took that away for no good reason. Yup 12 months is just fine.

There are people who do less time for violent assaults on people. He sat out of football for a year, too. And while that's not sitting in a minimum security prison, he was still punished in my eyes. So there's your 2 years.

Does that make it right for them ???? We really don't want to turn this into a discussion of the legal system but I, for one, have little faith in it. Life is life and maybe we all value it differently but in my eyes those animals did nothing to deserve to be put to death. NOTHING !!!

It is sort of the same deal when prisoners find religion while in jail. It might get them some time knocked off the sentence if the try to be a better person. My feeling is that they should have thought of religion or drug rehab BEFORE they broke the rules.

Re: Vick's Prison Sentence May Be Shortened

Drugs had a lot to do with it. People under the influence of drugs or alcohol dont make good choices. They just get caught up in that whole crazy lifestyle.
If he is sincere, which remains to be seen, you could see a whole different man when he comes out and more than likely a better football player. That is, if he doesnt pick up any more bad habits in prison.
LSC, I'm surprised at you. Sometimes when a person is in prison, they find no where else to turn but to religion or rehab. Sometimes they have to hit bottom. Vick has definitely hit bottom. Here's hoping he goes up.

By no means do not take what I said wrong but the numbers will stand by me on this one. I hope that Vick comes out a better man. PERIOD. I'm sure no one in their right mind wants him to return to drugs and killing dogs. Only a fool would want that. My point is that criminals all of a sudden find religion when it can be beneficial to getting them out of jail. The same religion was/is there and it would have helped keep them out of trouble in the beginning. I'm very sad to say that I have a nephew in jail down near where "Q" lives and he will not seek out any religious help because he says that is where all the sexual deviates go.

Again I hope Vick has seen the error of his ways and comes out a better man for it. I hope all who are imprisoned come out better people.

Drugs - Drug Problem - Vick - No, No you have it all wrong - that water bottle compartment was for my jewlery Give me a break the guy is clueless with a big "C". I don't care where he spends his time I just want him to spend it - we need to address this early out program. If you don't want to sit in jail don't break the law - pretty damn simple really.

Yes, they frequently do. And frequently they go into rehab to get out. But sometimes the experience leads them to know they cant keep going the way they were going. And then they turn to the religion or rehab they rejected before.
