McKay No longer GM; Parcels Likely VP

One Christmas wish of mine is looking good -- MCKAY GONE AS GM!

ESPN - ESPN's Parcells likely to become vice president of Falcons - NFL

Bill Parcells said Wednesday that he likely will accept the Atlanta Falcons' offer to become the team's vice president of football operations.

(snip)

Blank has informed McKay that he will not return in the same role, even though the owner wants McKay to remain as the team's president, sources said.

Parcells backs out on Blank
Won't become chief of Falcons football as expected

Flowery Branch — In a stunning turn of events that has left Falcons owner Arthur Blank empty handed and embarrassed for the second time in eight days, Super Bowl winning coach Bill Parcells backed out of a deal Wednesday to become the team's executive vice president.

"We had reached an agreement in principle with Parcells [Tuesday] and we met with him this morning to complete the contract," Blank said in a statement. "At that time, we were made aware by Parcells that he was considering a revised offer from the Miami Dolphins. He later told us that he would not be signing a contract with us."

So McKay's out, Parcells isn't in, and things just seem to be getting worse and worse for the Falcons. Damn.

Rather than a big name I would prefer the next great one - question is how do you find him (or her ).

Tuna used Blank just as he has used other teams / owners. I for one am glad he didn't join our sinking ship.

We have sucked for so many years I don't see the need to rush - what's another couple a decades.

Re: McKay No longer GM; Parcels Likely VP

The organization basically needs overhauling from top to bottom (again). New GM, new coach, and new QB can certainly be resolved this year. Some of the other position players can be found this draft year but the problems won't all be resolved in one season. Of course if Blank flubs up the GM and HC positions again then we may as well not get on the field this next year.
