Atlanta Falcons New Coach

it seems Bobby Petrino is out as the Falcons coach

the question for them now is where do they go from here

as Lefty said in another thread .. they need someone to come in there and restore order

who better then Bill Cowher ?

Cowher would be a good choice, but would he be interested?

well arent his girls in school in the Carolina's ? ...... Atlanta would keep him close enough to see them occasionally

also i think he would have one of the best owners in the NFL and a rabid fan-base

I heard John Fox could be out in Carolina. He could come in and turn them around.

Re: Atlanta Falcons New Coach

I just hope the new guy is better than the last two - we are in deep do here in Hotlanta.

I'm glad Petrino has jumped ship - he is not an NFL coach.

Blank deserves a break and I hope he gets one soon.

no I dont think Tuna would be interested. This team needs discipline and not 6 in thick play book from Martz. I would like to see Cowher there.

Re: Atlanta Falcons New Coach

A look at possible Petrino successors | ajc.com

Here's a look at early list of candidates to replace Petrino:

Bill Cowher
The former Pittsburgh coach would instill instant credibility to the franchise and be able to flash a Super Bowl in the locker room.

Mike Martz
An offensive mastermind, who could re-tool the offense. Is a bit quirky, but he too, has a Super Bowl ring.

Mike Zimmer
Falcons and longtime Dallas defensive coordinator. His unit has fallen off lately, but he's intense and knowledgeable.

Jason Garrett
Dallas' offensive coordinator is considered one of the top offensive minds in the league.

Ron Rivera
Defensive coordinator with San Diego. Was interviewed last season by the Falcons.

The others
Former NFL head coaches: Chan Gailey, Steve Mariucci
NFL assistants: Mike Singletary, Rob Chudzinski
College coaches: Sylvester Croom, Jeff Tedford, Kirk Ferentz, Pete Carroll

Re: Atlanta Falcons New Coach

So many of those guys don't have prior head-coaching experience. I think a hire like that might be a mistake for this team.

Re: Atlanta Falcons New Coach

Dennis Green is a poor choice I think. Remember when the inmates were running the asylum in Minnesota those last years? He had no discipline at all.
Just leave Jason Garrett right where he is thank you.
Definitely need a coach with previous experience. Pretty soon the coaching heads will begin to roll and there should be plenty of choices.

Re: Atlanta Falcons New Coach

For some reason, I keep coming back to Tom Coughlin. But then, he and DeAngelo Hall would probably mix like oil and water.

Most coaches will mix like oil and water with Hall. See, now Cowher and Hall would be fun to watch.

Based on the actions and comments I'm not sure the Falcons should or will keep Hall. Hall needed a different track than the one Mora provided - I think his attitude sucks and blame it on the previous coaches.

What ever happens the next coach will have a significant rebuilding job as the cancer of discontent has eaten the heart and soul out of this team.

Cowher would be my first choice.
