Petrino resigns?

Bobby Petrino will resign his position as coach of the Atlanta Falcons and is close to an agreement to become the new coach at the University of Arkansas, multiple sources tell ESPN.
According to sources, Petrino and his agent have been talking with the Falcons about his preference to return to the college ranks. The former Louisville coach was looking for an opportunity to break into the Southeastern Conference ranks, and Arkansas was a natural fit.

Re: Petrino resigns?

I just heard this on ESPN radio. They said he already resigned and they are deciding who the interim coach will be.

Speculation for next season?? Who do they get now???

Re: Petrino resigns?

Shouldn't he have at least have finished the season. It looks like he is running away from the team because he doesn't have the players to win. I don't want to hear how his heart is in college ball. He has missed it since he left. I have heard this before.

Yeah, it's not even like he lost the team's respect. He never had it. They need to find a veteran coach.

I had a brain cramp. I couldn'tthink of the word when I wrote my post, but coward describes him perfectly.

I also heard on the same radio program that Lane Kiffen is also considering leaving for a vacant coaching job already.

Hey, he tried. The moment the team refused to discipline Hall for dogging him, Petrino had to know it was a matter of time. Yesterday's display of support for Michael Vick among his punk players was probably the final straw. I'm sure he completely regrets leaving Louisville in the first place.

Re: Petrino resigns?

He wanted to get out of this living hell called the Falcons. What is so wrong with that?

Plus, it's not like Saban in the fact that he never lied and said he intended to stay. It was quite obvious he wanted out of Atlanta.

Re: Petrino resigns?

The prisoners' team from TheLongest Yard had fewer criminals on it than the Falcons. The Arkansas job wasn't going to be there forever and he had to make a move. I don't blame him for it, but you have to wonder what he was thinking in the first place to go to Atlanta. And imagine DeAngelo Hall talking about the "Falcons' storied tradition."
