Really the Falcons lockerroom says different.

I disagree.... Petrino could have called Arkansas and said I'm coming, just give me 3 weeks. Arkansas didn't have to sign a coach this instant.

Actually with recruiting he did need to leave right away. Saban waited and the recruiting class was diminished because of the delay.

If they wanted him that bad(and let's face it they must have with his past), I don't think they did, they could have, but I doubt it.

Could be Stoney... on the other hand, Sabans reputation could have hurt recruitin, like it's possible Petrino's rep will hurt him. Think about this one. Would you want to commit to a coach who has no business speakin of commitment? If i'm a possible recruit, there is now way in hell I could commit to Petrino who has a lack of commitment.

so think about that if Les Miles stays at LSU ........ Miles, Petrino and Saban all come knocking at the door ...... if you care about commitment and your coach being there for your college stay you have to go to LSU

But if you care about winning you go to Alabama! [thanks for the set up]

Honestly if I were Petrino or Saban my pitch would go something like this....

Mr. Recruit's parents. I know that your son's future is very important to you. I know that you have provided for him the best that you could. I too have to do what's best for the student athlete. I tried to coach in the NFL but quickly realized I had made the wrong move. My heart has always been in college football and I now know for certain it is my destiny to help continue to shape the lives of young men. Each of us wants to excel at what we do but life has misteps along the way. What we learn from this is called experience. Here at this university your son will get the opportunity to explore his educational opportunities. He will have a counselor to help him to make the right choices. I want to be the kind of coach that makes a man out of your boy and helps to propel him to the next level of life with all the right tools. Your son's education comes first but his athletic prowess will help him to overcome obstacles that life throws at him. I want to teach your son the fundamentals of football and with a little hard work and luck he may get the opportunity to play on Sundays. This is the most important choice in his young life and he needs your help to guide him to the right university. I want you to be proud of your son's accomplishments and I want to see him grow and thrive under my tuteledge here at this university. Now all we need to get his college career started is his signature on this line.

Might work for Saban considering he didn't quit his first season or leave in the middle of it. Petrino is screwed. Recruits and families will look at him and say " I might have been born in the dark, but it wasn't last night". He doesn't even qualify as a snake-oil salesman.
