Who is the best running back in Falcon history?

I remember the first Falcon to gain 1,000 yards -Dave Hampton...who got thrown for a lost on his next carry and lost the milestone in the same season ending game.

Since then you have Gerald Riggs, Jamal Anderson and Warrick Dunn...my money is on Riggs having been the best.

Re: Who is the best running back in Falcon history?

Definitely my man Gerald Riggs, who owns the team records for most career carries, yards and rushing touchdowns.

Quote:
Falcons career records
Rushing Attempts: 1,587 Gerald Riggs ( 1982-88 )
Rushing Yards: 6,631 Gerald Riggs ( 1982-88 )
Rushing Touchdowns: 48 Gerald Riggs ( 1982-88 )

William Andrews has to be mentioned. Almost 9000 yards running and receiving in 5 years.

He was from the SEC (Auburn) so I doubted you would have

Didn't Andrew run in the same backfield with Riggs for a spell?

Yep - 82 - 88 I think.

Warrick Dunn needs to be on the list as well - the little train that could has been amazing - not to mention what he does for the community. With 59 yards today he will join the 10,000 yard club - pretty heady group.

Re: Who is the best running back in Falcon history?

It has to be Warrick Dunn. He also has 3 1000 yd rushing years plus an over 900 season. He has 7 games this year to get just over 500 yds to get another 1000 yds. He is also great catching out of the backfield. He is going to get over 10000 yards for his career. I think he is the best hands down.

If you want to talk about one season, that has to be Jamal Anderson... One of my favorites. He had a 1800 yds rushing and over 300 receiving. A great year by any standard.

I like Dunn, and I realized just the other day he has almost 10,000 yards...but I just don't seem him getting that far without Vick opening up those running lanes for him...still like Riggs better.
