Falcons quarterback Byron Leftwich practiced for the first time Wednesday since undergoing surgery to help recuperate from a high ankle sprain.

Leftwich suffered the injury in the second half of a game against New Orleans on Oct. 21. Leftwich had surgery to place screws in his ankle ligaments three days later.

Falcons QB Joey Harrington has led the team to two straight wins but he won't be the starter once Byron Leftwich is healthy, coach Bobby Petrino said. Harrington isn't happy about thw news and also isn't pleased to have found out through the media.

Coach Bobby Petrino said today that when Byron Leftwich is healthy enough, he would start at quarterback for the Falcons. Neither Petrino nor Leftwich ruled out the possibility of Leftwich starting this Sunday against Tampa Bay at the Georgia Dome.

It won't matter - Leftwich won't last cause something else will twist, fracture, or break. He's an injury waiting to happen.
