Falcons eye Bucs QB Simms?

As Atlanta prepares to scour the waiver wire for another quarterback, it's possible the Falcons next quarterback could be on the division-rival Buccaneers roster. Tampa Bay is well aware of Atlanta's intentions, too. But it is trying to figure out what is best for its franchise. Buccaneers quarterbacks Jeff Garcia, Bruce Gradkowski and Luke McCown have roster spots all but locked up. Chris Simms does not. Simms would be the type of quarterback that would greatly appeal to Atlanta -– if he were a free agent, which Tampa Bay could decide to make him this weekend. -- NFL Network

Re: Falcons eye Bucs QB Simms?

Simms needs to learn a bit more before they just throw him in the starting job in Atlanta. Then again what could you learn from Joey Harrington? Maybe he should start.

Given that Shockley's hurt, this would more than likely be backup insurance. Harrington's their guy, at least for now.

I just heard Falcons season tickets lower in price as soon as you posted that! Simms would be a good QB for them. He has talent but that injury was ferocious and he needs to be developed. I think it wouldn't be bad if they got him.

Come on, Harrington didnt look that bad in preseason. And I dont even think too much of him.
At this point, Simms wouldnt be an improvement. First there has to be no question whether or not he is totally healed. Second, like you said, he needs some development.

Maybe the Giants. They could use a good quarterback.

losing your spleen isnt a huge deal, it just makes it harder to fight infections sometimes, but im sure whoever gets him they will get somewhat a discount..
