Without a doubt. But hey, at least they have a guy like Harrington, who has some in-game experience should they be without Vick for a while.

Gotta love that statement Lefty - a while might be stretched into forever.

This is a mess - If Blank cuts him half the city will be livid - If Blank keeps him half the city will be livid. If the league doesn't suspend him PETA and the Human Society will be screaming. If the league suspends him and he wins the case he will own the league.

Talk about a rock and a hard place

I see a plea deal on the horizon for Vick. He may even establish a trust for the Human Society / PETA (think millions) to buy some sympathy or respect or whatever.

Re: Falcons having Schaub regrets?

Hindsight is always 20/20 but we did quite well with the draft picks given up for Schaub. The team made the best trade they could at the given time and quite frankly, I thought we made Houston's FO look foolish once again. They paid rather handsomely for an unproven talent. I never really understood the hype machine that was generated around Schaub. He might pan out well for them but we desperately needed the depth those picks have and will afford us. Coach Petrino was said to not be as impressed with Schaub as the previous regime which put the stamp on his being expendable. We'll have to deal with the curveball we've been thrown, but forget Schaub. He's gone.

I am so not a fan of Joey Harrington, experience or not, but I was never real impressed with Schaub either. Maybe you are right. Maybe Atlanta will deal with this quite well.

Well, unless they improve that line, I hope not. He'll end up with another bad knee.

Re: Falcons having Schaub regrets?

Schaub was a good quarterback at Virginia and he had some bright moments when he got time to play with Atlanta. But honestly, it's been a while since Atlanta has had a true qb anyways. They've had vick who is a running back who has a good passing game here and there.

Cool Re: Falcons having Schaub regrets?

Why is everybody making Schaub out to be Dan Marino?

We don't even know that he'll be any good as an every day player.

Well, assuming they lose Vick to suspension or cut him, would you rather have Schaub or Harrington? I'd take Schaub easy.

I agree. With the receivers Harrington had in Detroit, he should have come out a lot better.

Re: Falcons having Schaub regrets?

I think they will be better off with Harrington. Schaub has only started 2 games I think. Harrington has years of experience albeit with the Lions. He will have weaker receivers, but a stronger running game to hide a few weaknesses.

I know everyone's going to say it's just the preseason, but man, from what I did see of Schaub in the preseason, it looked to me like he had all the tools. That combined with what he accomplished in college makes me believe that he could be a solid NFL quarterback. Houston won't be a fair litmus test for him until they solidify their line, though. Harrington's washed out for two teams thus far. What makes anyone think the third time's the charm for him?

Preseason? What are you talking about? Preason hasnt started yet.
And if you are talking about last year, preseason is a whole lot diff from regular.
I'm not writing him off yet and like you, I dont think this year will be a very good test for him unless they have REALLY made some changes in that o- line.
And if Harrington couldnt do any better than he did in Detroit with those receivers, then he surely isnt going to light any fires in Atlanta.
It doesnt sound like they are interested in Culpepper.
So like GreyCoat says, they deal with what they have. At this point, that's Joey.
