As a high school and college player, football was a game for Trey Lewis.
As he embarks on his professional career, he is taking a business-like approach to the sport.
Lewis, a Washburn Rural High School and Washburn University product, was selected in the sixth round of the NFL draft by the Atlanta Falcons in April. The 6-foot-3, 320-pound defensive tackle has taken part in mini-camps and rookie orientation and is now preparing for his first training camp later this month.
"It's been unreal," Lewis said last week after returning to Topeka from Atlanta. "I'm making the transition from college player to pro player.
"The biggest difference is that it's no longer recreation — it's my job. You're looking at the fact that you're trying to take someone's job, their livelihood. I think I'm taking the right steps to having that approach."
