Re: Greatest Atlanta Falcon Of All Time

Come on, simon, Bill Goldberg? The guy was a washout as a footballer. It would be sad to give it to Morten Andersen, but he really is one of the most recognizable faces of the franchise. It's a three-way toss up between him, Tuggle and LB Tommy Nobis in my book. But for a franchise with no Hall of Famers in its history, this is a tough, tough call to make. Oh, and just for fun, I'm going to throw Bill Fralic into the mix.

Cool Greatest Falcon of all time

So who is it?

Steve Bartkowski, QB, 1975-85
William Andrews, RB, 1979-83, 1986 (short-lived comeback after knee injury)
Jeff Van Note, C, 1969-86
Jessie Tuggle, LB, 1987-2000
Tommy Nobis, LB, 1966-76
Mike Kenn, T, 1978-94

What about Billy White Shoes Johnson or Jamaal Anderson?

I have to go with Bartkowski. Boy, did he have a gun.

I can't stand the guy, but doesn't it have to be Vick. He is the face of the franchise. He is being touted as one of the best athletes to ever play the game.

Heh, we had two of these puppies going. I couldn't decide earlier but I think I'll go with Tuggle over Nobis, Fralic and Andersen.

No, see, he already won an award in the dog training category given out last week...something about if you win in one category, you are banned from a second...

MICHAEL VICK? ARE YOU SERIOUS?

Sorry for the all caps there, but, seriously, come on! Vick's nowhere close to the best Falcon of all-time. He has fewer 300-yard passing games than Bob Berry, Steve Bartkowski, Chris Miller, Wade Wilson, Bobby Hebert, Jeff George and Chris Chandler did during their Atlanta Falcons (not NFL) careers.

And here, from the Falcons website, are the team's all-time passing leaders.

Career Passing Leaders
RK Player Years Att. Comp. Yards Pct. TD Ints
1. Steve Bartkowski 1975-85 3,329 1,870 23,468 56.2 154 141
2. Chris Miller 1987-93 2,089 1,129 14,066 54 87 72
3. Chris Chandler 1997-01 1,672 981 13,268 54 87 56
4. Michael Vick 2001- 1342 726 9,031 54.1 51 39
5. Jeff George 1994-96 1,180 714 8,575 60.5 50 32
6. Bob Berry 1968-72 1,049 598 8,489 57 57 56
7. Bobby Hebert 1993-96 1,066 637 7,053 59.8 50 49
8. Randy Johnson 1966-70 904 435 5,538 48.1 34 65
9. Dave Archer 1984-87 647 331 4,275 51.2 18 29
10. Bob Lee 1973-74 402 198 2,638 49.2 13 31

So according to this, Michael Vick wouldn't even make the All-Time Falcons Team as a third-string quarterback.

Sure, but add to it his running yards...oh never mind...I am tired of being an advocate of this "alleged" loser

Okay, okay, I get the point. Who would you put him ahead of, though? Bartkowski is a guys who's gotten votes for best ever. Miller has solid numbers as a Falcon and Chandler's the only guy to take this team to an NFC Championship. Just curious how you'd rank the four of them, Goth.
