Interesting development on the local sports radio today. The afternoon guys, Buck and Kincad, have been all over the Mike Vick story and last week were ready to string him up. Today they have reversed opinions 180 degrees – proclaiming his total innocence and arguing with callers. Some of the defenses they throwing up are beyond crazy and make me think the legal beagles got to them. I’m not trying to imply Vick is guilty but simply sharing what I heard.

One caller was recapping the events and reviewing the evidence found on Vick’s property when Kincad interrupted him and offered the following explanation for the bloody carpet - “They found some of that tainted dog food on the property and if the dogs had eaten any of it they could have gone insane and attacked each other.” Another gem when asked about the search warrant to look for dead dogs “If they find any dead dogs it will prove someone climbed over the fence at night and planted the dogs (no pun intended) on the property.”

The last thing I heard – Vick will take a lie detector test tomorrow, at the Falcons facility, and the results will prove his innocence.

I suspect the lawyers told them to tone it down a notch or two and give equal verbiage to the other side of the story. This is ok with me but the methods they are employing left me cold and less convinced of Vick’s innocence.

i know youre only relaying what you heard but i dont believe Vick will take the test for a second and if he does and passes i will claim it was rigged

ok so if he is officially charged as a result of that Grand Jury is that enough for the NFL to suspend him ?

Simon I'm inclined to think he is guilty too. These two talk guys were just unbelievable in their denial - and last week they were absoulutly ready to string him up. That is why I think they received a memo from someone to tone it down.

A side result - all of the African American's were jumping for joy at the reversal which also tells me this issue, at least in Atlanta, is dividing the fan base on racial sides

Once again I say thank the media for this entire mess. Obviously there is a story here but if the media would report instead of sensationalizing we might all get to read some truth instead of the trash that sells papers.

Getting back on track here I say - Michael Vick will not play in the preseason and most likely will never play another down for the Falcons and the possibility exists that he has played his last down as an NFL QB JMHO. Sad to see a gifted athelete throw it all away.

The Falcons will flounder through the approaching season (8 or 9 wins at best) and draft a fanchise QB next year.

There is a lawyer somewhere that is waiting to make him an innocent man. This will all blow over with minor consequences and he'll be back.

my husband ran into a attorney that is real close friends with that guy, poindexter it was told that yes they will convicted mike vick with something very small and it will turn into probabtion. Yes he will be able to play this season! All of this will be history! old news he said.

Any idea what "small" means? Possibly something as minor as more dogs on site than allowed under his business permit

I cant believe there is another thread on Michael Vick. I would have ignored it but I didnt like the race card being played. I liked Vick. He was exciting and it was fun to watch him make fools of defenses. But he has been guilty of some less than stellar actions, not counting the dog fighting thing. I lost some respect for him as I have lost respect for other players involved in tacky behavior, regardless of race. Many of my favorite players are black.
Is he guilty? I dont know even though there has been evidence that shows that he probably is.
Is it a witch hunt? Because he is a celebrity, and if the race thing is an issue in Atlanta, could be. But it is not an issue in this forum.
The media is a royal pain. They blow everything out of proportion and frequently are not bothered by little things such as facts. Because the threads on this subject are so long and passionate, we are buying into the hype. "Believe none of what you hear and only half of what you see."

Neopet, you most certainly do fit in. You have a tendency to bring these guys back in to line. Keep up the good work!!!
