And the guy who says his dog fought and beat one of Vicks? Is he not an eyewitness? According to an MSNBC report, the police consider the source "extremely reliable". They found 66 dogs and equipment used in dogtraining equipment in property he owns. There may (or may not) be video tapes -- just because they haven't made public doesn't mean they don't exist -- but even without them, there are links back to Vick. That said, I agree with you and with MSNBC's Mike Celizic on one point: "Goodell can’t find Vick guilty of anything other than bad judgment and having a sleazy relative — yet. There aren’t even any charges — yet."

What I can't figure out is why there's such a divide here. Yes, I dislike Vick as a quarterback. Yes, I believe he is innocent until proven guilty. But no, I don't think the evidence is looking good for him. More and more I'm believing he was involved, though it's up to the court of law to decide that for sure.

Like Vick's guilt or innocence, that's not for you or me to decide. It's up to the police and, ultimately, the jury.

Then go back to the multiple Vick threads from last year...its been a witch hunt for a while...I am not so sure that any other QB would have had a rash of people convicting him on just hearsay...we get one slanted view from a media hungry for dirt on a celeb...and right away, it becomes, "there is strong evidence for a hanging, so move over Barry Bonds and make room for Vick"...

Oh, sure, there have been plenty of athletes who were convicted in the court of popular opinion before being charged or having their day in court. It happened to Michael Irvin, to Bonds, Mark McGwire, Michael Irvin, the Duke lacrosse players. Tons of "innocent until proven guilty" star athletes of all ethnic backgrounds have been tried and convicted in the press and by the fans, even though in none of those cases there were evidence of wrongdoing and, in the Irvin and Duke cases, they were eventually found to be unequivocally innocent. And then there are the Rae Carruths of the world, and I'm sure there are many others, who were in fact guilt of their crimes. Which category will Vick ultimately fall into? Beats me.

So why can we attack the witnesses but not the accused? Vick had dozens of dogs and dogfighting training equipment on property he owned. At the very least, that is a crime in several states. Here in Ohio no one is allowed to own even close to that many dogs, and those who have a certain amount are subject to kennel inspections or what not. So we have a felon who turned states evidence in an investigation (nothing new there; police are making plea bargains like that all the time with people they consider "small fried" to get to the central figures). If a lawyer can discredit him, so be it. But if people can't jump to conclusions about Vick based on heresay, why can they instantly discredit this guy? You can't have it both ways.

The bottom line is they need to find, try and convict whoever is behind this dogfighting ring, whether its Michael Vick or not.
