| Before much longer, the Michael Vick saga will probably give us all something to shout about. It’s been barely two weeks since he was indicted on felony dogfighting charges, and in that time the defrocked Atlanta Falcons quarterback has become a symbol for just about everybody and just about everything. PETA thinks he’s a villain. The NAACP thinks he’s a victim. The NFL and his corporate endorsers think he’s poison. Most of us, though, just think he’s a damned fool. Yet as the carnival unfolds, and the madness mounts, and the sublime slips smoothly into the ridiculous, tell me haven’t we seen this act before? The actors change, the plot remains the same. Here we are with another high-profile athletic indignity that will surely give us the same queasy feeling as the others. Chart a line through the absurdity of the O.J. trial, slash a path through the Bonfire of the Vanities sensationalism of the Duke lacrosse scandal, then weave it through the Pacman Jones insanity. By the time that line reaches the disturbing case of the United States versus Michael Vick, we can see the familiar ties that bind them all together. | Re: Vick Investigation If I was an Atlantian (is that the word?) or a Falcons fan, I'd be pretty pissed off at Michael Vick right about now. He went weeks claiming his innocence and said he had nothing to do with what may have happened inside the home. Now with this guilty plea, he's just a big liar...a felon (I think) and a criminal. If I were a Atlantian (again, is that a word?) or a Falcons fan, I'd say so long Michael and good rittens. |

| Re: Vick Investigation I may be mistaken but my understanding is he cannot serve a suspension unless he is under contract with a team. The Falcons will likely sever ties meaning he would need to sign with someone willing to take on the baggage he carries and willing to wait for the suspension to run its course – not likely. So here is how I see it unfolding: 12 to 18 months federal time with the possibility of serving 2 months in a halfway house starting in January 08. So he gets out Jan. 09 at best or July 09 at worst. He then starts serving the suspension (assuming a light suspension of 12 months and not likely) so he is into Jan 2010 or July 2010. He will be 31 years old and away from the game for 3 seasons – he is done. |

| Re: Vick Investigation Pacman got a year for 2 big cases then ticky tact things every other day Tank got 8 games for guns Chris Henry got 8 games for more traffic incidents then Lindsay Lohan. Based on that Citroen Vick gets at least a year and half maybe two
