Before the season, Petrino signed a 10-year, $25 million contract with Louisville athletic director Tom Jurich. Petrino had previously interviewed with Auburn, LSU, Notre Dame and the Oakland Raiders for other jobs, but announced in August that he would be at Louisville for the long haul.

"I can't tell you how happy I am with the commitment and the confidence that Tom Jurich has in me and the university has in me," Petrino said after signing the contract. "I also wanted to make sure that everyone understood, I know I've said it, that this is where my family wants to be. This is where I want to be. I want everyone to really believe it."

This is far worse that what Saban did, in my opinion. Saban bailed on professional athletes. Give them a few weeks, they'll look at their paychecks and shrug it off. But Petrino recruited these kids. He convinced them to spend their college life in Louisville and play football for the Cardinals because he was going to be there. The program was rising, the coach was locked up and the future looked bright.

Now this guy just jumps ship on a team that might well have been close to a National Title, leaving behind a 10-year deal HE committed to that apparently wasn't worth the paper it was printed on. I feel bad for those student athletes he's leaving behind, because they bought something that this snake oil salesman was pitching, and now he's gone and they've been left high and dry. I hope he fails miserably in Atlanta and the Louisville program continues their winning ways without him!

Tell that to the kids at Louisville, who have been abandoned by a coach they trusted and believed in. Tell those kids, who are left scratching their heads and left without a football coach today and no idea what the future holds, that it's "just a business." I feel bad for them, I really do. I only hope the program doesn't collapse without him. They've come too far to fall now.

All these athletes and coaches are the same. They're all full of crap. Or 99%,anyway. Occasionally, you get a guy like Schiano who sticks to his word and honors contracts.

That's optimistic considering the track record of college coaches coming into the NFL has been poor.

I honestly do not have a problem with a coach leaving for a better paying job....just don't lie about it. That is why I think Saban is a jerk. This guy is too. I think coaches ought to be given 1 yr contracts with options for 10 yrs. That way everybody knows there is a good chance that somebody will get shafted.

If he would have gave us some kinda warning that he was leaving would have been nice but he didnt he was already on a plane and heading to atlanta before we found out about this he is a trader he traded his team for some team that plays worse then the cardinals so all i have to say about bobby is have a good day and we hope we dont see you again
