Jim Mora on the hotseat

Numerous media reports claim that Falcons owner Arthur Blank has already started a search coaching candidates, leading to the obvious speculation that Jim Mora's future with the team looks very bleak. Blank has said in the past that a .500 record is unacceptible. So does the axe fall on Mora after today's game with the Eagles?

Yes. Not only were his comments stupid, but his coaching has been subpar.

I hope they find someone that is not interested in changing Michael Vick. He gets a lot of unfair criticism for a top ten quarterback in the NFL.

Word is that it might be Bobby Petrino, Kirk Ferentz or Steve Mariucci.

I hope whoever they hire is smart enough to realize that Matt Schaub gives the team a better chance to win games.

Oops, did I just say that again?

Just seen on ESPN that Jim jr. has been fired.

Can't say he did anything to warrant sticking around.

Yep, Mora becomes the second coaching casualty of 2007. So who do you guys think will replace him? Will it be one of those favorites mentioned above, maybe Petrino or Ferentz? And what happens to Mora now? Does he take a coordinators position, or maybe try his luck in the NCAA?

Re: Jim Mora on the hotseat

I am thinking that if Bill Cowher stays with the Steelers or takes his time making his decision, then Ken Wisenhunt would be a good choice to take over as the Atlanta Falcons head coach. Another person who would be good for that position would be Mike Mularkey. He got such a bad rap at Buffalo, he deserves to be a head coach again. Would be nice to see him in Atlanta for a second opportunity. He could even take a couple of players from Buffalo and bring them to Atlanta.

Maybe Alabama should try to pursue Jim Mora if Nick Saban turns down the job. Maybe Washington will take Jim Mora. If Ron Rivera gets a job as a head coach somewhere, then I guess Jim Mora could be the new Defensive Coordinator for the Chicago Bears.

Never thought about Wisenhunt, but that makes sense. Pittsburgh seems to favor Grimm as a replacement for Cowher anyway, so it might be wise for the Steeler OC to make the move to the Falcons. I agree that Mularkey deserves another chance, but I'm not sure he wants one. Didn't he resign? I got the impression he didn't like the pressures of being the head coach.
