Vick Flips Off Fans

Michael Vick has apologized for flipping the bird to Falcons' fans after the team's loss Sunday, but does it really matter?

Here is the official statement on the Falcons' website:

First and foremost, I would like to apologize for my inappropriate actions with fans today. I was frustrated and upset at how the game was going for my team, and that frustration came out the wrong way. That's not what I'm about. That's not what the Atlanta Falcons are about. I simply lost my cool in the heat of the moment. I apologize and look forward to putting this incident behind me."

Re: Vick Flips Off Fans

that's really uncalled for

he is the team leader and a veteran, he should know better then this

the team really stunk it up and he needs to be able to take the fans and deal with it

Not surprised, his brother did the same thing last year when Va.Tech played WVU.

I've always been a big Vick fan, but I think it's time for him to take a seat and let's find out what Matt Schaub can do. He's a much better "pocket passer".

You too huh?...Pray tell, what would a "pocket passer" do in Atlanta?...They have crap at wide receiver...how is a pocket passer going to help any? If a team rolls up 280 on the ground and can't find a way to win, the problem is not the QB.

Maybe its not so much his abilities as a quarterback, but his skills as a leader that make replacing him the right choice.

I still believe its time to see what Schaub can do, even if it means sitting Vick down for 1 game as "punishment" for his immature antics, and/or as a wake-up call that he needs to refocus. As far as the rest of the Offense, thats a topic I'm not prepared to tackle yet. (no pun intended).

Schaub was pretty good at UVA, as an in state rival I watched him closely. He maybe be the change needed by the Falcons.

It's a running team with no decent receiver...At least with Vick they have to worry about containment...Isn't it easier to tweek the O to Vick's liking than to start from scratch with an unknown quantity?...Vick is getting 8.0 yards a run...much, much better than LT or LJ...and yet, all I hear is lets change him?...insanity...

i agree that the Falcons recievers are all thumbs, and its difficult to throw while you're getting saked...but that still doesn't excuse Vicks immature gesture. He his the leader of this team, then he should lead. His frustration with his team should be hashed out in the locker room, not on the field with the fans.
Don't get me wrong here, Vick is a Va.Tech man, and he did great things for the program in his brief stent as QB. I like Vick, but he is not above repremand for his actions.

Gotham, I do believe you would have stood on the deck of the Titanic assuring people that it was nothing more than a small leak! Vick's time in Atlanta now grows short.

Who goes - Vick, Mora, both or neither? I'm thinking both.

Blaming the failing on Vick for not being a pocket passer, is like blaming the crew for hitting the ice berg...without blaming the captain (coach) or architect of the ship (GM) becuase the ship couldn't turn worth a darn...etc...

You guys are all to quick to ignore the lack of receiver or a coach to stubborn to build an offense around the talent he has, rather than the talent he wished he had...

As usual, your passion for the game clouds your judgement my friend...

Re: Vick Flips Off Fans

Can't blame the GM... how many times has he TRIED to get Vick a receiver, only to not have it pan out. Remember Peerless Price? He was hand-picked by Vick. And what's Ashlie Lelie up to these days? There is no way anyone can fault ownership or the front office here. It's all the coach and the players, including Vick AND his receiving corps.

Can't blame the GM?...oh really?...so every GM that has had a bad draft or signed over priced talent is off the hook?...The front office failure to get talent for Vick is indeed as much as an issue...I mean, lets get real...I never hear you say, "You can't blame Vick, he threw the ball as far as he could, just missed the receiver."...

Of course you can blame management...the buck really stops there does it not?

Except they had the same crap at wide receiver when Dan reeves was coach but Vick was great then. It's unfortunate that the Falcons wasted his prime years with another Mora as coach.

As far as the finger, he said he was sorry, so it's over with.
