Magic # to End Braves Record

Thanks to Metsblog for the headsup about this. The magic number for the Braves chances to win this year's NL East to come to an end is 19. That means a sum of Met wins and Brave losses of 19 will officially end the record 14-years of Atlanta dominance in the NL East.

Of course the Braves are still (somewhat) alive in the Wild Card race, but there's less than a month left of Braves history

Re: Magic # to End Braves Record

Ya know, I'm probably in the minority here considering there's a lot of Mets fans floating around GoTeamsGo - and for the record, I'm not really a fan of the Braves - but I'm kind of sad to see the Braves streak (most likely) coming to an end. They were the model of consistancy for so many years, then they let their pitching coach get away, their staff isn't as strong as it used to be, and now they'll probably be lucky to be a playoff team. I guess all good things must come to an end, right?

Re: Magic # to End Braves Record

I am a mild supporter of the Mets and the Yankees since I live in New York or Antartica. I also feel sad about the Braves' streak for the same reasons you do, Lefty Noob. I think Atlanta's rotation has really changed throughout the years from the rise of both Tom Glavine and Greg Maddux. Unfortunately, franchise always hit their highs and lows throughout the century. It is odd to think how the Kansas City Royals won the World Series with George Brett, and now consider it a miracle to make the Playoffs. I would expect the Devil Rays to win a few championships within the next couple of decades. All they need is a bigger payroll and better players, who they can acquire during the free-agent period. The Atlanta Braves were always known as the Yankees of NL East. They didn't get along with the Mets and had many rivals.

But as EmpireWF reminded us, there is still time left in the season! The possibilites are endless.

The Atlanta Braves are all done, PERIOD. And I'll be glad NOT to see that tomahawk chop, after a while that gets old.

I would go as far as to call them a "Dynasty" in an age where the term rarely applies...
