Funny about the Braves. Just when everyone thinks theyre done they find a way to creep back little by little and win the NL East in september. I wouldnt count em out just yet guys.

See I thought with all the Wars in the Middle East, Simple was alluring to something more apocalyptic...

I'm with Trashed on this one. They'll find a way to sneak back into it. Greg Maddux wouldn't hurt.

sports is my distraction from all that other stuff

and id say there wont be any come-back this year

the major question is, can they rebound next year or will this require a major rebuild

I think the Braves will make it interesting, but settle for the wild card in the end. They need a starter bad, and Maddux would be the man. He hasn't pitched too great lately, but when he dons a Braves uniform again it will be like he never left!

Wlecome to GoTeamsGO DavidMurray. I don't think they have a shot in hell to catch the Mets. The Wild Card? I guess it's a possibility because the NL is so weak....I heard that Greg Maddux will only go to SD, Milwaukee (his brother is pitching coach) or the LA Dodgers. He has a no-trade clause.

Re: Is The End Near

Sadly, I'm afraid you're right--but I wish he'd remember all those great years in Atlanta and go back one more time for old times sake--it would only be for a couple of months! I'd hate to see the Braves have to trade for a starter, but I don't know who else might be waived--wish they could have gotten Ponson!

Re: Is The End Near

There are a few other starters out there on the market. How about Cleveland's Jake Westbrook? He's no Maddux, but...

Re: Is The End Near

Westbrook would be great! Last night's win without either of the Jones boys was huge, but there is no way the Braves will be able to climb over all those other teams in the wild card hunt without another starter--the bats will only carry them so far. It was good to see Wickman come out of the pen, but Braves aren't finished yet--get that starter!

Re: Is The End Near

If the Mets can sweep the Braves tomorrow (Glavine pitches), then you can bet the division is parked in the Mets garage. Although it's nice to be so dominant in the division, it would've been somewhat sweeter to have it be more competitive and truly beat them for the division in September. But hey, it's arguing over spilt milk at this point lol.

Still, the Braves will be competitors for the Wild Card in a NL that's not exactly the strongest league.

Re: Is The End Near

Four and a half behind Cincy with three games head to head coming up--it is now or never for the Braves---they need a SWEEP!
