Longtime Braves broadcaster Skip Carey died in his sleep on Sunday. Carey, the son of the late Harry Carey, called Braves games for 33 years, including during a run of 14 consecutive division titles that started in 1991. He was 68 years old.

For anyone who doesnt know he made the call when Sid Bream scored on Francisco Cabrera's pinch-hit to win the National League Championship Series for the braves in 1992: "Here comes Bream! Here's the throw to the plate! He iiiiiiiisssssssss ... safe! Braves win! Braves win! Braves win! Braves win! ... Braves win!"

Sad news! I grew up a Braves fan in Atlanta, and grew up listening to Skip Carey, all the way back to his first days broadcasting Atlanta Crackers games in the 60's. He was truly one of a kind, and I know ole' Harry was proud of him.
