Chipper Jones of the Atlanta Braves hit his 400th home run yesterday.

According to the Associated Press, "The Atlanta Braves slugger cracked his 400th career home run Thursday night and finished with four hits in a 7-5 victory over the Florida Marlins, raising his major league-leading batting average to .418... Jones came out of the dugout for what he said was only the second curtain call of his career as fans cheered his milestone homer in the sixth inning. He became the third switch-hitter to reach 400 home runs, following Hall of Famers Mickey Mantle (536) and Eddie Murray (504)." So does this lock in a place for him in Cooperstown, or not?

Absolutley, hes been a lock for a while, but this definitley solidifies it..

He was a lock even if he never reached 400. It certainly will go a long ways towards making him a first ballot guy, but Chipper is one of the better hitters of the the 90's/00's. I know if I had a vote he would be a first timer to me.
