Tragedy at Turner Field

the fan who fell 150 feet from the Turner Field club level onto its field level Wednesday died from serious head injuries he suffered in the fall. He was 25:
The senior investigator with the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office, Mark Guilbeau, said Thursday that the man who fell was Justin Hayes of Cumming, Ga. Atlanta Police Department spokesman Ronald Campbell said Hayes was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with serious head injuries. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Hayes was pronounced dead at the hospital. Campbell said Hayes may have been sliding down the handrails when he fell and that alcohol may have been involved.

this is very sad and tragic, it got me thinking, with all the recent trouble fans have caused and deaths, if alcohol was banned would it solve future accidents and problems from occuring?

I think it would help a lot. The fans are proving that they can't handle alcohol in a sporting event more and more. I think they should do an in depth study of the rate of incidents and see if the beer sales are really a major contributor in these incidents. Frankly I would ban it because fans for the most part just get too rowdy and rude when they eventually have too much to drink. However that would make the teams lose money and money is the bottom line in sports no matter how many people fall over railings.

At some events rowdy fans make it miserable for the rest of the fans. Especially if children are present.
However, you said it all in your last line.

It'd be nice to see teams at least designate a few seats as "family-friendly" sections... no drinking, keep it clean, stuff like that.

Great idea. like a smoking and non smoking area type thing.
I just think they should band it. The worst part about drinking is people get really annoying

Yeah, exactly. I mean, I think I'd prefer that it be banned outright too (you don't need alcohol to have a good time, people!), but if they can't or don't want to do that, at least set aside a section special for people who want to take their kids to the game.

No alcohol, no fans- that's the sad truth. Imagine an NFL game with no alcohol for sale. Never going to happen.

You don't think there's enough people out there who would pay money to see a game, even without booze? I sure do.

So do I, and a lot of people get liquored up before the games. Ever heard of tailgating people?
